#QuaranTunes: This Is What Maalavika Manoj Is Listening To Right Now

Mali (Maalavika Manoj) is a Chennai born, Mumbai-based independent singer, songwriter and pop artist. Her music takes inspiration from 20th century classic pop influences with a fresh contemporary twist, giving her sound a nostalgic flavour. Recently, Mali released a single called ‘Age of Limbo’ from her upcoming debut full-length album titled ‘Caution to the Wind’. The single is accompanied by a crowd-sourced music video featuring footage from Mali’s fans living in 12 different countries and the song has been widely regarded as a ‘lockdown anthem’ of sorts. She is the first Indian artist to be picked for Spotify Worldwide’s RADAR program, an initiative to help push independent music to new markets. The singer even recently featured on BBC World News in conversation with American singer-songwriter, Erin Rae, on the future of independent artists around the world in the wake of the global pandemic and consequent lockdown.
